Their patience had been rewarded. One of the star addresses was a former off world site formerly set aside for emergency evacuation. After the almost successful attack by the alien forces known as the Quill thanks to a traitor who along with twenty others had been executed.
The Quill had managed to infiltrate the compound and murder almost all of the former operations team.
They could have succeeded were it not for one of the team activating the emergency shut down of the Portei Semperu AND the complex.
A stand off, with the base under the control of the invaders even though they could not leave that area, a stand off? Not so. Forces of the Quill launched an airborne assault sending in ground forces with their so called ‘petroc’ pets that were a cross between a dinosaur and a flying bird a Petroc.. aptly named.
The slaughter was merciless.. Those things had defense shields meaning attacks from conventional weapons failed. Finally it was noted that the Human(a) thanks to help from the Orions suddenly making their presence known.
Saw the enemy fleeing into the darkness of space? Of course those on the base also fled.
Leaving the base unoccupied and the self destruct operational? Time one might say running out as a breach was finally made.
Secured the base area was now back to normal BUT the Orions, were interested, in the so called
Portei Semperu. Wanting to use their forces to secure it on the precept that the Quill could still send forces through?
The MER Mui were more than aware of the Portei Semperu. The base itself sealed within the mountain structure. The Orions were an unknown race to them however their interest and continued demands they took over the base area ?
The Portei Semperu was removed BEFORE the Orions could take it over.
To a set planet address that was hidden from that lot. Anger, yes they were clearly angered, the removal of ALL nuclear weapons any weapons that vanished overnight left the Human(a) at the mercy of the Orions.

For the Orions it was clear those beings were far more powerful an adversary than these primitives.
For now, they had realized how over populated the planet was, seriously obscene to them until some of them tasted the Human(a) to reach the conclusion they were in part deliciously a delicacy. Food processing, trickery, deception, exploitation and off world EXPORTS.
The intelligence reaching them that the MUR and the accursed MER were going to leave the planet was a rare piece of good news. THEY would wait until that happened. In the meantime more processing plants!
BUT of course the here and NOW had seen the Orions retreating. For Shu and the thousand of the travellers assembled in the craft where the Orion Portei Semperu was, the star address for the planet with the original portal had been found.
It would be Shu and companion Nior who had now after sending through a probe reconnaissance drone that sent back imaging showing what had been astonishing AND beyond their wildest expectations.
A while later they with ten others taking over the original base camp; stood by the Portal to stand still in a state of genuine euphoria. This would be their new home.

The Orions, their former captives. had been sent back to their place of origin. Their Portei Semperu was kept. Leaving behind their archive data base that was proving to be of some value.
The additional power units were being integrated into their original portal with little problems re compatibility AND function. The power was almost triple that of the original module uncovered and almost depleted.
Coming through from Solus 3 a steady stream of the 1.000 new settlers; colonists.
The planet was remarkably like Solus 3 hence its original selection as the emergency off world site.
THEY had achieved what a short time ago had seemed impossible Those of the ELITE had been a problem re keeping everything from them finding out about the ones who had resurrected the original Portei Semperu PORTAL to the stars.
The Orions on the return of those so called captives? Executed them. THEY had a tracker as we might know it on or within their Portei Semperu. Every time it was activated they would know including the star address ?!
Patience they would wait until they would use it to send in a retrieval team, one that would terminate those primitives and leave behind what thy called a ‘cascade weapon’
