Nodu is an Arcan. of the ‘house of Omer’. Scientists, would be a good description but he was and, had been recognised, as being one of their best, for his skills, were almost close to those of an Omini.
Intelligent, quick witted and never without some quip to ease any tension; his capabilities had others in awe of how good he was.
A fan of the ancient trading of what became known as ‘Renais’ which encompassed a huge diverse collection of artifacts, jewelry, clothing and so much more that emulated what had been uncovered or passed on through the centuries to various races. 
Leather or HIDE as it was known was a synthetic variant of what some would have known in its original form from the hide of cows et HORSES and similar animals.
Likewise Silks and other exotic soft materials, were highly coveted.
Traders, had established trading routes across various Galactic zones. Earlier piracy had proven to be a nuisance but tightening up security, weapons and mid route satellites that provided armed tactical response over time reduced such attacks.
Drexetnium, diamonds, emeralds but also pure SILICATES were secured aboard heavily armed and protected carriers. Often with Class B escort vessels that could deliver a powerful reminder to any would be thieves NOT to interfere or trespass.
As an Arcan, his homeworld was an ancient one.
Millions of years ago, his people with the blessing of the
Gods of creation, had built up their home WORLDS.
WIth technologies and the knowledge of the ancients not forgetting the PROTECTION afforded to them from some of the ones NO living thing would dare to challenge..
Let is also not forget that the Arcan developed the CELESTIAL CLOCK.. that allows them to produce the
Portei Semperu.
The means to travel between systems, worlds and the various relays.. ALL complex and highly developed with some VERY special unique to a given race means of transport. LOCKING out others from using their transports.
The Arcan devices can only be repaired, replaced and or as new by those chosen by the Arcan.
Any violation of such can render theirs useless. HOWEVER once installed and working, an Arcan can not disable such a UNIQUE DEVICE unless they have the coded interfect allowing them access to do so.
The lifetime of a Portei Semperu is NOT the same as the CELESTIAL CLOCK powering it..
Many can be part of a RELAY system with ONE CELESTIAL clock device or DEVICES powering the grid array.
UNLESS it is permitted, NO CELESTIAL CLOCK array can be used to TIME TRAVEL. ONLY permit travel from one to another.. but NOT TIME TRAVEL and that applies to the theory of TIME TRAVEL from traveling faster than the speed of light..
PORTEI SEMPERU do NOT USE LIGHT to travel. It uses a star cluster cascade within the CELESTIAL CLOCK of immeasurable power to allow the transfer of MOLECULAR DISSIPATION, ATOMIC and so much more !
NEUTRON cascades are the most advanced.
For TIME travel the whole system is beyond most as it is under the oversight of the Gods of creation.
Hence why the Arcan IF a CELESTIAL CLOCK is modified to do that are terrified.
It is offensive to the Gods of creation to adapt, modify such devices for that WITHOUT their consent and HOW would they ever know if such consent had even been granted?
The Gods can have their fun. In Nodu and Yie they had been listening, observing, noting their desires, their almost one might say PRAYERS to the Gods to relieve their monotonous boredom?
Hmm the old saying ‘be careful what you wish for might spring to MIND..!’
Initially not a WARRIOR race. BUT eventually it was necessary to ensure protection of certain zones and that included off world satellites, space stations, colonist carriers; to have armed escort for the reassurance of all aboard such places.
Also their home world, the main one had these strange creatures.. large aggressive and at times violent to subdue.. Great it was discovered for food. A real treat and thus not entirely wiped out.
All of the usual agriculture that had been maintained.
Substitute foods, minerals, essential vitamins and more from the early settlements onwards continued.. Sometimes modified to increase yields BUT after centuries the realization that modified to the extremes could prove dangerous if not fatal, had rules and regulations to carefully monitor such AND prevent abuses.
Punishment? The Pite as it was known was developed within the Orias systems..A very effective bio chemical control that reduced aggression, curbed violence and the need to, the desire to be anything but agreeable in nature.
Pite, was eventually, only used as an absolute necessity. The side effects were not the issue.. the loss of any will to defend oneself, arm and protect was lost. A necessary aspect of any bio genetic life form to defend itself against unwanted predators ?
The Jogarth, with their ‘slave bands’ used them, to inject an amount of modified ‘Pite’ into their newly acquired slaves. The Vendaren used it within their Clossistrial fluid mix thus ensuring their captives were completely without any resistance to their commands.
NONE of the Jogarth and or Vendaren technologies were fully understood by other races.
Secrets remained secrets. Potions, mixes, the means to enslave, force compliance and of course OBEDIENCE ?
Yie from her home WORLDS (Califri) was a SILICA based life form. NOT dissimilar to Nodu but far more complex internal body systems, including control interfaces and yes I said, INTERFACES..
Most Human(a) have the BRAIN as the central core controller.. It with all of its neural interfaces controls vital organs, nerves and of course all other supplementary hormones plus.
Yie has a central core AI based interfacing what we would know as an IC chip. Located within her head.. behind her eyes but heavily protected it does all that a Human(a) brain would do but THOUSANDS of times faster.
Blink and you, would miss her next thoughts, her next decisions; physical and or psychological.
Her ears, are HER races identity, re what species they are and NO they are NOT ANIMORPHIC unlike those from the planetary system of BEXES. When her EARS are showing they are acting like a radar system to scan and SCAN she does.. with alarming accuracy ALL that is around her..
Able, to penetrate like xray vision most that infra red, radioactive deep scan can including much to her amusement though not so much Nodu, IF he knew.. ALL that made him who he is. THAT can be good bad or indifferent giving a whole new meaning to the term ‘I can see right through you’ ! 
In the event, there is something wrong with Nodu, biologically, chemically Yie, would know, would sense and hence, when they first met and spent time together..
WHY she liked him.. had NO fears about being around him? Warm, receptive, entertaining, quick witted and au naturelle.
Her own what we could call ‘MALES’ and yes there are such amongst her race.. Progenesis can produce what looked like MALE or FEMALE.. but
BINARY NEUTRAL. No actual BIOLOGICAL aspects such as Human(a) with the female UTERUS for conception etc.. NOR the MALE having, yes.. you know the bits between the legs..
PLEASURE? Is for some and note the for SOME.. a SENSORY experience manifested in many ways..
TOUCH, SPEECH, CLOSENESS. IRRADIATED sensory sensations caused by VIBRATION, upon the OLFACTORY and AUDITORY ?
Likewise DISPLEASURE, RESENTMENT, AGGRESSION and ? Can be more than apparent.
Also we need, to address the problems with CULTURE, CUSTOMS to name but two which could result in anger, rage and !
FOOD, LIQUID intakes for BOTH of them PROGENESIS had created almost identical INPUT and OUTPUT..
Digestive processes on Nodu WERE different to those on Yie but the main processes were almost identical..
True unlike Human(a) they did not burp, belch, fart of similar. The digestive juices however did remove certain vitals for their bodies to ingest re skin tone, colour, warmth and similar.
Cleanser units, removed waste ‘particulates’, from follicles on their ‘skin’ giving a tingle to their forms..
Sweat? Some but more to act as a control interface re monitoring their overall body temperature.
Normal was about the same as ours.. for BOTH of them.
BOTH were warm blooded AND if you cut them yes they would BLEED. Colour was different.
Yie was more a greenish hue whilst Nodu had a blue tint to his. HEIGHT and WEIGHT..
About the same but because Yie is a SILICA BASED life form hers is LIGHTER..
Nodu is more a CARBON based form. Bones, skeleton and more make his heavier.
Together they are different and yet not so different. Nodu has remarkably quick thought processes, fit both physically and mentally STRONG.
Yie is not so STRONG, but, her thought processes and reaction times, are fluid, responsive and fast;
One might even say.. LIGHTNING FAST.
As they turned the corner to step beyond the next hatchway, that would now be put to the test..
