They had been excited to be venturing out after a new underwater ancient site had been discovered.
The babysphere was a new carbofilament type.. Able to withstand what previously had been inaccessible to them because of the pressures involved. 
The viewing windows were made of a new substrate material that when NOT in use became a black.
Activated the view panels became transparent.
Heading into the ocean site, they could see the slopes from the hill to their right.
A rock fall had created a danger to any craft too close to that.
Heavy rocks and a works team had been assembled to carry out necessary repairs.
The harbour or what had been the harbour, was gone.
Some trading vessels had been damaged.
A lot of debris that would require a dredger to clean.
Luke and Cyn were pleased to be out of it. The rows from who was responsible bordered on the truth which was WHO was going to pay for it.
The new ancients sites had been uncovered after earthquakes that had been in excess of 8.3 on the ricter scale. Divers had decided to take the plunge to sate their curiosity after some of the towers were found poking out of the sea.
The discovery was revealing some structures that were recorded for would be investors. Knowledge was still power and despite the Ai entity monitoring all tht was going on, it did not interfere nor stop the diving expeditions.
Symp had been aware of some of the new sites. Seeing the imaging relayed to her, she recognised some of the architecture. The shelves, steps, elevations were almost identical to one that she had investigated.
This one had an assortment of octopus that were enormous. Frightening to see.
Due to climate change, the waters warming up and overall current changes including.
Tidal flows changing due to the ‘gulf’ stream continuously shifting.. Whales, octopus, giant squid were taking over certain places.
Causing irate fisher folk to curse. Not just fish but lobsters, crabs and similar including OYSTER stocks Salmon farming affected. 
The octopus got into tight cages sliding into the cage, eating up all that was inside including crunching the bones of crabs, lobsters; leaving the shells, shell wreckage.
Sometimes they would eat other Octopus..
Electric eels were also a problem. Rivers were seeing huge numbers of them.
The Oceans were a nightmare. Too much pollution, too much OVER population. Corporations that had been and were now gone had left a mess behind.
Out dated equipment, non existent services and the cost of all going up and up. For many explorers, the desire to find riches and get rich quick, was always a good reason to risk their lives.
Gold, silver, diamonds and gemstones were competing with specific materials, precious metals and more. Cobalt, Radium, to name but two..
Diving was OK with a submersible. It gave protection against such huge predators.
OK some of the bigger creatures could attempt to attack, slam against and SIT on it.
BUT an electro shockwave wold soon discourage them.
The overall construction had an inner layer that was impervious to most hazards.
Air conditioning with adequate temperature controls was important. Deeper they went the colder it got.
Hence the exterior of the craft could handle easily variations in hot or cold but the interior was always the temperature constant the crew agreed upon.
Gases, external equipment and a special compartment, sealed for moving into and exit OR return allowing pressure or depressurize as applicable.
Suits were externally filled with a special gas. that gave the sit buoyancy.
Special footwear could give increased weight as and when needed magnetic adhesion.
Suckers also helped re helping maintain grip on slippery or irregular surfaces.
The materials of the suits were also TEAR resistant. YOU could NOT tear it..
Some sharp jagged surfaces could be encountered and a loose rock or structure, could be dangerous.
Buoyancy could also help, re giving some ‘ballast’ as and when needed. you could inflate or deflate the suit. 
Sometimes to the amusement of others around you..
Certainly in some instances scaring off would be predators. Octopus and similar ? Those tentacles.. Once again sensors could deliver a powerful tingle.. shock.
Electric eel kind of protection where those such as Octopus were concerned. The suits Ai could identify threats.
Deliver not only those deterrents but also IF it was necessary to collect specimens spike the specimen with a paralysing agent.
Lighting was also very relevant. Some areas of the structures could be pitch black especially when entering or descending via steps or?!
The visualization recording equipment had to be protected.
Cages or other devices to limit any damage.
Anchors, other supplementary devices for securing YOU when climbing or descending.
Ones that could be hammered or punched into place OR FIRED from a distance.
A high energy bolt. The pressure gun was terrifying re the power it delivered warnings were always given with a bright red flare and a loud shrieking noise that penetrated suits..to indicate that was about to happen.
Some ot the recovered materials had been very revealing. Ancient race that existed thousands of year before the considered time line? They already knew, well some of them did thanks to the archive information provided by the Orians.
The escape from Solus 3 (Earth) had seen one race leaving. The Annunaki had been at war with another race who had attacked and basically nuked vast areas of the planet. Mining sites especially targeted to radiate the gold and other precious metals..
Soon after radiation, snow fall and the beginning of an ice age.. The atmosphere, temperature drop and toxicity was now making it impossible for the Annunaki to stay.
True they did beat off and slaughter the aggressors but left with the planet as was.. they left.
It would be centuries before the next civilizations came into being. 
Some ancient structures left to remind those now finding them that there had been others before them.
Bringing some of the new finds to the surface. the crew aboard the vessel that had opened its lower hatches to allow the vessel to dock.
Strange objects that were like crystalline orbs.
Crystal substrates. Piezo electric properties.
Outside the vessel the crew had not noticed the beings who were now boarding it. Stunning the occupants who awoke later to discover the recent hoard gone.
Stolen and the only indication of WHERE the thieves had come from was a slime, a nasty green goo. Luke had almost slid on the slime only just regaining his balance. cursing as his body hit the rail.
The objects thieved and gone? Cyn appeared to stand facing him. “Todays haul gone.! There were some gold and those strange orbs.” Cyn grinned..
“Not before I sent some of them over to the research laboratory.
The Gold objects and two of the five orbs oh and the fine mask that had jade in on it.
Oriental feel to that but could also have been Aztec.
At the laboratory, they had indeed received the items. The Gold mask was carefully cleaned, care taken re the Jade to not dislodge the intricate silver claws. The silver work showed signs of soldering. Nothing new re that.
The Aztecs were past masters of that.
Nysa had examined it and was not so convinced it was Aztec.. More Toltec.. Comparing it to some of the archived images there were some comparisons that were clearly similar. The land sites had proven interesting.
Some had suffered from robberies.
The orbs? Examining them had proven to be without fully understanding what they were, NO past artifacts mimicked them. Cleaning them was revealing some streaks, fine crystalline flecks.
Putting a charge across it purely out of an idle interest in what might happen.
NOT that she expected anything to happen... ?
