The SHELLS were being assembled. Some were as Human(a) as could be re their appearance. Some SHELLS were outer and removable for when the SHELL was not needed.
Military ones were FULLY enclosed and NOT removable.

The FEMALES who often were seen with them were NOT actually FEMALE no such existed within a designated SHELL occupancy that was of a permanence. Binary well sort of. Their Human(a) essence and ESSENCE is a good way of putting it, was at the core of all that they were.
