It took Esleha and Arvania two days, to reach the ‘Awesa’. Its significance to us, would have been like a temple. To the Cflen, it was a shrine. To get to it, meant a journey over a mountain pass. Nearing the top of the mountain incline, was a small but significant plateau. Set back from the open space and well hidden in the steep incline of the mountain, camouflaged.
The huge hidden archway, lay behind a layer of green and grey twisted vines. As Esleha approached the entrance the vines moved. Arvania was taken by surprise. She squealed much to her mothers amusement. “You my child have seen nothing yet, of the power of the ‘Awesa’.
As they moved inwards, the long narrow passageway, led them into a large chamber. Beautiful tapestries adorned the sides of two of the main walls. Each of them telling varous stories, legends. Of the birth of the Cflen and ? One of them, the story of Tolgani? The trader, the space traveller? The ‘shadow walkers’?
Her attention shifted to above them. In the middle, of a magnificent marble ceiling? A round orb like device suspended mid air? No wires nothing appeared to be holding it there?
They hoped, nay prayed, the others, had made it out of the main encampment. They had other places they could use, underground hide outs, that would be filled with food, necessary items stored.
These caverns, were used by the Cflen and well maintained. Harsh winter weather with temperatures dropping to minus ten at night on a regular basis. The caverns could be warmed through, protected them, from the elements and saw them alive and well to the spring as we would know it.
The BEAST?
Dahhon and the others, were completely oblivious, to any of the planets weather problems. Not that Dahhon was thinking about the weather. Whether he should stay with them at the base camp, was on his mind. The laboratory was a key factor, for the time being, of him remaining.
He was not telling them about the Cflen. That however was soon to change when Joden approached him. “So tell me Dahhan how goes your research on, what are they called? Ah yes, the Cflen?” Dahhan stared at him.
“No good trying to bull me!“ He grinned. “I’ve read your notes and looked at the DNA samples! Bloody hell you are good! They had me hooked. Incredible!“
Praise? From Joden?! Bloody hell! Dahhan was not annoyed, in fact, he had reasoned, he could, do with some help. A plan, he wanted to implement and now, he pulled Joden to one side.
“Don’t mention this to anyone!“ He told him of the days events. "Bloody hell!“ Joden smiled “Why the hell shouldn’t we? If we run across an inferior species, take it over? I mean how many planets, submit, to races invading, treating those like us as Gods? Worshipping them?“
He stepped over to a wall unit. Pulled out a bottle of Iridian whiskey. Pouring it into two glasses, he handed one to Joden. “Besides they’re perfect for research! We will save a lot of time wasted and hassle avoided, with those bloody Regens!
We will not only have live specimens to experiment on but can have some fun aswell!“ Joden told Dahhan about the Regen and Lumor. Dahhan fell about laughing. “That’ll teach them.“ “I tripled the compound used to bulk muscle fibre and motor neurone response plus altered its cognitive processes!
Hell, you should have seen it, snap that bloody creatures neck like it was a twig!“ “Fodawke!“ Joden stared at him. “If we are continuing research then we refer to them as they are! The Cflen call them Fodawke.“
“Oh, OK, sure! Well you know the bloody size of those dammed things! That regen grabbed it, bounced it round like it was a toy!“
“Just what my, no OUR loyal subjects need; the Cflen need!“ He grinned, then stopped. “If we got rid of their wings, bulk the muscle mass and..“ He looked at Joden. “You thinking what I’m thinking?”
“If we alter their genetics, we can pit them against each other? That way we can observe and redo things as we go along!“ "Well we will need to form a militia loyal to us, the Cflen, so that order is maintained. Experiment to perfect the best, in body mass and physiology”, “Sounds good to me!"
"Of course, we can have some real fun and test our theories on DNA and rogue proteins, plus I want, to try the new added DNA sub strings.“ He stepped over picked up a shelde then powered it up handed it to him.
“That’s, what the new strings do.“ He looked at it read it. “Of course these are untested, but I can see what you’re getting at.“ They ceased talking as Lumor appeared. He was in one of his moods. Mostly annoyed at the absence of Dahhon!
“Thanks for being around today!“ Sarcasm? “Now if its not too much trouble, perhaps you can check the perimeter weapons, and ensure they’re operating ok after today’s fiasco.” He omitted the fact, that it was his regen, that had caused the damage in the first place and the chaos that followed!
He left, as Dahhan rolled his eys muttering. “Sad b'stard! Shame we don’t have lab facilities elsewhere! I’d tell him where to shove his perimeter weapons!“
It would be, later after Dahhon, had carried out repairs, on the weapons arrays, when he and Joden met up again. “The regen tubes are empty. I’ve flushed them, cleansed them! We need one, of each of the species, to adjust the DNA, inject the new chemicals. Dahhan looked at him, nodded. "I would suggest, we both make a trip out and collect the specimens. Sooner we get started the better!
The Cflen camp was deserted. Dahhan was cursing his stupidity. They had escaped! Of course! In hiding?! He saw the body of Loki and two others. Dead, Loki was a strange sight to see. Her grey almost matted skin, hollow eye sockets and two distinct puncture marks on her chest? As for the smell?
“The rest are obviously in hiding!” Joden could see sense in that. BUT would they get a specimen? Had any remained?
It was, as they were about, to leave the main area, that Joden saw a movement, he tapped Dahhan on the shoulder and removed the weapon from his holster, setting it to simply knock out the victim as he moved closer.
The female, waved at Dahhan, bowed as she approached and started to tell him what had happened? She begged for his protection. The others were hunting down those who had sided with Loki. He smiled at her, had her follow them, to the transporter.
When they arrived back they were relieved to see that there was no one was around to witness them taking the female to the laboratory. The others, were too busy, teaching the Regens and checking data as Dahhan now set up the improvised lab section next to the Regen chambers.
“We need the DNA, plus the cellular tissue and I think we can do some thorough rechecking of data, to ensure the anatomy and physiology is as per the readings from my original data?“
“What are we doing with her after we’ve finished?“ “Throw her to those creatures to scavenge the remains!“ The female had fallen asleep but was now awake. She was trying to move but unable to do so; controlled by inhibitors. But to her horror, she could hear every word of the conversation.
“We need to cut her open, do some exploratory work and I want to know, how they use the neuro motor reflexes, re the wings. More data on lift and dynamics, plus how we can safely remove them without killing the Cflen.“
He peered at her feet. “Look at the Fodawke and then at these. Trace in a few extras and now, they're almost identical!" He showed Joden some implant devices, similar to the one he had tested and found worked, on the Cflen queen.
“We’ll implant and track, all of our regens, with these?” Dahhan nodded, it was the coms unit buzzing into life that interrupted them. "Dahhan can you check the perimeter we’re getting alarm systems tripping. I tried to get you earlier?” It was Lumor!
Dahhan looked at Joden. “I won’t be long, get her stripped of everything and ready.“ Joden stripped her. He was amazed how similar her body bar the wings, were in comparison to Human(a) females. His hands roamed her body, touching, squeezing, abusing as he pleased, without her being able to fight back, or to stop him?
