The Mermaid
Jess Corbin
..and yet was it a dream.. for in all wondering it did not seem Real as life, could in all essence be.. upon the rock she sat, not yards from me.
Flicker of my eyelids not to conceive.. the sight of such beauty, none would believe.. for such its said, do not exist within this mortal veil.. Mermaids ?
Some silly folklore, sailors tale !
She turns I see the flaxen weave of gold bound tight.. the rays of sun across them reflected back to leave me blinded, Caught within the streaming light.. an outline of all that left me thus dumbfounded ?
The cloud that drift across the sun, eclipses; reveals, her found..! she smiles as hands move, to lift to lips and with a hiss.. as hair drops to wrap, her face around.. bound.. Across the palms she blows, to me her kiss.
Movement in my minds eye a flicker ? a picture so clear; her tail in blues and greens and gold, like jewels, the sparkle of those scales.. She moves to lay within the pool of blue.. not much but head and hair and hands to view.
Too speechless am I, what can I say? Splashing me to soak me well ! flaying out her hair ... some laughter, upon my senses lay, Lingering like the droplets, flung within the air
The splash of water dies back, with speed she swims far out transfixed am I, as now she seems to turn about.. then wave her hands to bid me farewell ? in my heart to leave the image that will, forever dwell..
Fools heart that in my fantasy desires so much.. To be with her, my lips may murmur, softly hiss The craziness of dreams to join her there.. reach out and touch.. To feel upon my lips, to linger there, her kiss.
Tell no one, sense how they would react? ! A foolish dream? If it were so. to me there is no regret.. but tell me were it not real, then how come the fact
that I,
was soaking wet ?!
